Lighting for Your Swimming Pool

Nothing sets a mood in your yard quite like pool lights! When it comes to putting white or colored lights in the swimming pool, there’s no reason why the owner cannot have the best of both worlds. And it is easy to have both when they install LED lights that can be either white or can change color with the touch of a button. This option is only available with LED lights, which work by way of semiconductors instead of a heated filament. Incandescent lights cannot change color the way LED lights can. Read on to learn more!

How LED Lights Change Colors

A single RGB, or red, green, blue LED lightbulb can change into many colors. These three primary colors can be combined to change into literally millions of other colors, including white. This is done by adjusting the intensities of the red, blue and green chips in the LED’s semiconductor.

The colors themselves are produced by inorganic materials that are used in different types of LED semiconductors. These materials emit different levels of energy when the LED bulb is turned on, and this energy causes the color of the light. A low amount of energy produces a red light while a high amount of energy produces a blue light. The primary colors tend to be intense because the semiconductor only allows a specific wavelength of light to be emitted.
